Case 3
Wait 3 Months
On your first day at the Backstretch in New York that Spring, three months since your first hospitalization, you walk into the free clinic. A friendly, Spanish-speaking doctor sees you, and asks you what's been going on.
You tell him about your vision and the dull ache in your hands and feet. He performs a physical exam on you, and helps you realize that you've lost the sense of vibration in your feet. He also gives you an eye exam, and tells you that you should be seeing an ophthalmologist - an eye specialist.
Then he asks you about your medications. You tell him that you're not sure what you should be taking, though other doctors have told you that you should be taking something. He prescribes some medications, and sends them to Walmart. He asks you to pick up the medications, and see him the next week.
Just then, things with work start to pick up, though. Your horse trainer is demanding longer hours of you, and your friend with a car stayed down in Florida, so you'll have to walk the two miles to Walmart.
What do you do?
