Case 2

Wait Until Tomorrow

You inform the staff member that you'll continue your conversation tomorrow, hang up the phone, and return to your cell. When you finally sit down on your bunk, you begin to cry. One of your roommates comes to console you, but you don't want to be consoled. You feel so, incredibly alone.

The next day, when you call the organization back, the staff member immediately apologizes.

"I'm really sorry," she says. "I was informed this morning that we cannot take anymore clients. The immigration lawyer who we work with was killed in a shooting yesterday."

Your heart sinks as you hear the staff member speaking through sniffles on the other side. "He and his family were killed in a shooting at the mall. They think the murderer was trying to prevent him from doing his work."

When you hang up the phone, you feel your hands shaking.

What do you do?
