Case 2

You inform the staff member that you'll call and talk to her when you're ready. She says to take your time, there's no rush. She also encourages you to seek mental health services while in detention.
After a week, you call the organization back. The staff member who picks up immediately apologizes.
"I'm really sorry," she says. "I was informed this morning that we cannot take anymore clients. The immigration lawyer who we work with was killed in a shooting yesterday."
Your heart sinks as you hear the staff member speaking through sniffles on the other side. "He and his family were killed in a shooting at the mall. They think the murderer was trying to prevent him from doing his work."
When you hang up the phone, you feel your hands shaking.
