Case 1
Seeking Asylum Together
You are told that in order to enter the US, you have to plant both feet on US soil at the port of entry on the bridge, and ask for asylum. The ICE officials will have to process your case if you do this.
But, when you get to the port of entry, there are ICE officials lined up all the way across the bridge (a practice called metering). They do not let you plant both your feet on American soil, so you cannot ask to seek asylum legally.
They say that they have too many pending cases, and that instead of going through the asylum process that would permit you to wait in the US, they will take your name down, and add it to a list. They tell you to check back at the bridge everyday at 4am, and when it's your turn, they will process your case.
What do you do?
