Case 3
Healthcare in detention
After you are discharged from the hospital, men in black uniforms escort you to a police car. You ride in the car for about an hour, and they bring you to a detention facility that seems to be in the middle of nowhere. They warn you that you are facing deportation to Mexico. Since the passing of your grandmother, you have no more family left in Puebla, where you grew up.
Upon intake to the detention facility, a Spanish-speaking doctor on site checks you out. She says that you will need to be started on a careful medication regiment. However, the government cannot cover the costs of your medications due to your non-legal status.
What do you do?
