Case 2
Waiting in the ER
After two more hours, one of the nurses wakes you up in the emergency room and tells you to follow her. The doctors, who you communicate with through a language line, tell you that they're here to listen and ask you what they can do to help.
You explain that you've been experiencing episodes of severe anxiety where it feels like your heart is going to fall out of your chest. You tell them that you feel sad and so incredibly lonely all the time. You tell them that if it weren't for your daughters, you'd consider taking your own life.
The healthcare provider tells you that they can watch you in the psychiatric floor for a few days, and help you get enrolled in an outpatient rehabilitation program. But, she encourages you to visit a Primary Care Physician for long-term mental healthcare.
