Case 2
Call home again
You use some of your saved up change to call back the legal organization, and ask if she can help you reconnect with your family again. When you hear your wife's voice on the phone, you feel yourself starting to fight back tears. You tell her that you're having a really hard time in detention. You will do anything it takes to leave, you just don't know how to go about it.
She asks you what has been happening, and all you have the strength to tell her is that one of the CBP officers had harassed and threatened you.
She tells you to stay strong. Your oldest daughter has dropped out of school and has been working along with your wife to sell dolls and necklaces made out of corn husks to people on the street. It's helped keep their stomachs from being empty over the past month.
Your heart drops. You want to keep working with the hope of sending something home soon. Your daughter not being in school makes you so deeply upset. You made this treacherous journey to prevent just that.
At the same time, you know that if you quit your job, you will not be able to get another voluntary work position for at least sixty days.
What do you do?
