Case 2
You're defiant
You cannot find the strength to do anything but lay in bed. At the time of the next headcount, at 10:00PM, your roommates tell you to stand up. "You could get in trouble if you don't!" They warn you. But you can't even find the strength to respond.
When the CBP officers get to your cell, they ask your roommates if you're alive. You hear them open the door to your cell, and feel one of the officers shake you forcibly. They yell in your ear to get up. Then, they drag you back to solitary confinement.
This is the second time you've disobeyed a CBP officer, they tell you. This time your punishment will be longer.
So back to the hole you go. Your thoughts eat you alive in the dark, windowless cell. You stop eating all together. When the CBP officers come to check on you seven days later, you are emaciated, on the brink of death.
They take you to the emergency care center, but as the doctors start to insert needles into your arms and a tube up your nose, you feel yourself slipping away.
You close your eyes and picture your daughters' smiling faces. You wish that you could have told them goodbye.
Time of death: 2:36P.M.
