Case 1
Head to the US Together
Together, the four (soon to be five) of you decide to leave for America. Yet, you have to decide how you will make your way to the U.S./Mexican border. Your husband wants to pay a coyote, but you don't have enough money to pay him. They could cost up to 2,000 pesos, but your husband says that he can make a deal with the coyote if you cannot pay right away. You have heard stories of people who are taken advantage of by coyotes and end up killed. You've also heard that there are freight trains that go to the U.S. that you could hop aboard, but you are not sure how safe it would be to ride on top of a fast-moving train for days at a time. Of course, you could always walk and hitchhike, but you are not sure how practical that is with your pregnancy.
What do you do?
